Search for CNMI Diabetic Test Strips

Accu-chek Aviva

I actually tried to purchase test strips for the PHHC glucose monitor today. I first went to the medical supply shop on Middle Road where they sell a test machine, but no strips. I then went to PHI pharmacy in Dandan where they sell a number of test machines, but few strips to match the machines. They did have the strips to match the PHHC machine (Accu-chek aviva), however they did not have the test solution to check if the machine is properly calibrated. I was directed to the PHI pharmacy on Navy Hill where they did have the solution. It turns out that the PHI Navy Hill branch had actually run out of stock for the solution, and had the entire stock from the Dandan branch transferred there. The staff at PHI pharmacy was extremely helpful, but I didn't understand with the high rate of diabetes on island, why companies don't choose to stock the items. Maybe everyone on the island prepares for situations in advance and orders them ahead of time.

Thanks for reading the blog, and thanks for the comment as well.

As an update to my search for glucose test strips, a rep. from Marianas Medical stopped by the Pacific Home Health Care office yesterday and brought over a notebook of available supplies. Highly coincidental after the blog entry.
