The NCSBN recently announced an increased passing standard for the NCLEX exam to take effect on the April 1, 2010.

The NCLEX was revised back in 2007 to make it more difficult to pass and now they are trying to make it even more difficult this April.

The current passing standard is -0.2100 logits on the NCLEX-RN logistic scale, 0.070 logits higher than the previous standard of -0.2800 from 2006. The new passing standard is -0.16 logits on the NCLEX-RN logistic scale, 0.05 logits higher than the previous standard.

New graduates may not want to wait 6 months to take the NCLEX exam and schedule it before the end of March.

CNMI Labor Bars Seas Agency From Hiring Nursing Staff

Tinian Health Center

Read the entire article from the Marianas Variety

The worst part about the decision from Jerry Cody (CNMI Hearing Officer), is what happens to the contracts of the current employees. ALL of the contracts will be revoked in 45 days. There was recently 3 renewal postings on the department of labor website for Staff Nurses from SEAS working at the Tinian and Rota Health Center. What is going to happen to the nurses now? Will Tinian and Rota hire the nurses directly? Why was a manpower agency used in the first place?

CHC is definitely not prepared for the loss of any nursing positions at the two clinics. I wonder what their contingency plans are.
